Ardbeg Dark Cove is a unique and collectible single malt whisky that debuted during Ardbeg Day 2016 as a tribute to the distillery’s turbulent history and the era when illicit alcohol trading flourished on the Isle of Islay.

The inspiration behind this limited edition came from the hidden coves, caves, and secret locations once used by whisky smugglers. The producer described Dark Cove as “The Darkest Ardbeg Ever”, making it the darkest Ardbeg in the brand’s history.

At the heart of this edition is spirit matured in dark sherry casks, which was later married with whisky aged in traditional bourbon barrels. The result is an exceptionally complex aromatic profile that combines Ardbeg’s signature peaty style with rich notes of chocolate, coffee, molasses, spices, and dried fruits.

According to the producer, the whisky delivers waves of treacle toffee, tar, squid ink, and roasted coffee bean aromas while maintaining Islay’s distinctive maritime character.
