Tinner Bros Toffee Nut Whisky Liqueur is a craft whisky-based liqueur from Cornwall, created by Tarquin Leadbetter — the founder of the acclaimed Tarquin’s Gin — as a modern and deliberately rebellious interpretation of classic flavoured whisky. The brand was inspired by the legend of the Tinner Bros, former tin miners working along the Cornish coast who, according to local stories, secretly distilled their own spirits after work.

This industrial and “miners-inspired” atmosphere is reflected both in the brand’s visual identity and in the character of the spirit itself, which intentionally breaks away from the rigid and conservative world of traditional whisky. The producer describes it as “sweet defiance in a glass”, a sweet act of whisky rebellion.

The spirit itself combines bourbon whisky with intense notes of caramelised and roasted hazelnuts, creamy praline, nougat, and rich chewy toffee. Tinner Bros Toffee Nut Whisky Liqueur works exceptionally well in mixology and was created with a modern, relaxed approach to whisky in mind. Some of our recommended serves include:

• The Old Sweet Fashioned: 50 ml Tinner Bros Toffee Nut Whisky Liqueur, 3 dashes of orange bitters, a pinch of nutmeg, ice.
  Preparation: Add ice to a low tumbler glass, pour in the liqueur and orange bitters, then gently stir. Finish with a light dusting of nutmeg.
• Honeyed Rusty Nail: 60 ml Tinner Bros Toffee Nut Whisky Liqueur, 3 dashes of Angostura bitters, 1 teaspoon of honey or 25 ml honey syrup, a large ice cube, orange peel.
  Preparation: Add the bitters and honey to a glass and stir until dissolved. Then pour in the liqueur, add a large ice cube, and stir again. Express the oils from the orange peel over the drink and use it as garnish.
• The Double Down: 35 ml Tinner Bros Miner’s Reserve Whisky, 25 ml Tinner Bros Toffee Nut Whisky Liqueur, ice, clementine peel.
