Fuji Single Malt Japanese Whisky – harmony in malt form.
Fuji Single Malt Japanese Whisky is one of the most intriguing works of modern Japanese spirit craftsmanship — it is a single malt whisky, produced exclusively from malted barley in a single distillery, without the addition of grain distillates or blending with whiskies from other producers. What makes Fuji Single Malt stand out is that it comes from a distillery located at the foot of Mount Fuji — known as the Fuji-Gotemba Distillery, owned by the Kirin Group. Its story combines tradition and innovation.
The Fuji-Gotemba Distillery was founded in 1972 by Kirin Seagram (later Kirin Distillery Company) and built in Gotemba City, at an altitude of about 620 meters above sea level, so that the climate (cooler temperatures, lower humidity) would closely resemble that of Scotland. The water used for production comes from the melting snow and springs of Mount Fuji, giving the distillate its pure character.
Among Japanese whisky enthusiasts, Fuji Single Malt is often praised for retaining its elegance and subtlety — it does not strive for excessive aromatic intensity — which makes it an interesting alternative to more dominant styles.
