La Maldita Garnacha Tinto - Spanish wine from central Rioja.
La Maldita Garnacha Tinto is a red, dry, Spanish wine with light freshness, easy to drink. It is made from 100% red Garnacha grapes. The grapes come from old, over 40-year-old vines cultivated at altitudes from 450 to even 700 meters above sea level in the Spanish municipality of Tudelilla (central Rioja). The fruit is hand-picked, and the wine is aged for three months, with 30% of the wine maturing in American and French oak barrels, and the remaining 70% in special containers on the lees.
La Maldita, translated from Spanish, means "the cursed one." The name of this wine refers to the Garnacha grape, which, half a century ago, was the second most important grape variety in the Rioja region. Most producers abandoned cultivating this challenging, "cursed" variety in favor of the famous Tempranillo. However, La Maldita winery has managed to bring out the best in this grape!
The Spanish wine La Maldita Garnacha Tinto is characterized by a silky texture. It is full of red fruit aromas, mainly cranberry and red currant, with a low tannin level balanced by a hint of acidity.
