Description
Auchentoshan American Oak is a delicate single malt whiskey with the aroma of vanilla and coconut produced in the Lowlands region, north of Glasgow. The characteristic, flattened bottle, in addition to the letter "A", adorns the image of three alembics - a triple distillation symbol that distinguishes Auchentoshan whiskey from other Scottish single malts, which are distilled twice.
The finished distillate is aged in oak barrels of the American bourbon of the first filling. Auchentoshan American Oak is a perfect example of how the bourbon has an impact on the taste and aroma of whiskey. It is accessible in reception, sweet and aromatic. In addition to the traditional way of serving on the ice cube, it works well in whiskey-based drinks.
The bottle is packed in an aesthetic, company cardboard box.
Founded by John Bulloch, the distillery was founded on the Clyde River in 1817, and received the license in 1823. Originally it was called Duntocher Distillery. It changed hands several times, and during the Second World War it was almost completely destroyed during the German bombing.
It was not until successful in the 1970s when Eddie Cairns took over the company. Auchentoshan is the first single bottled malt in the Lowlands. The current whiskey production (single malt only) is 1.75 million liters per year.
